Today is the perfect holiday for Coffee Lovers around the world!
According to nationaltoday.com, "Cafe au Lait’ (meaning ‘coffee with hot milk’) originated in France back in the 1600s when the French introduced the mixing of milk with coffee. Although regularly confused with the Italian ‘caffè latte’, the difference is that while the latter is made with espresso, steamed milk, and some foam and can be served either hot or cold, ‘Cafe au Lait’ is made from freshly brewed coffee and steamed milk and must be served hot."
In honor of today, here's a few ways you can pay homage:
📍Go grab a Cafe au lait with your friends, family or co-workers
📍Make your own using this recipe: 𝗠𝗔𝗣𝗟𝗘 𝗖𝗔𝗙𝗘 𝗔𝗨 𝗟𝗔𝗜𝗧!
𝗜𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀
3/4 cup Coffee
3/4 cup Milk
2 tbsp Maple Syrup
Maple Sugar or Maple Flakes (Optional) – to garnish
Cinnamon (Optional) – to garnish
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟭: Pour ¾ cup of milk in a mason jar and warm it in the microwave WITHOUT the lid.
When the milk is warm enough, I use my frother to make it frothy.
Another option if you do not have a frother, is to use the Pampered Chef Whipped Cream Maker. Add Milk to WC Maker and Pump the handle until you get your desired consistency .
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟮: Pour ¾ cup of hot coffee into a cup. (I use my Keurig to make the coffee and I use the tea setting for this recipe.)
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟯: Put two tablespoons of maple syrup in the bottom of your cup. Please note: you can add or reduce the amount of maple syrup based on your taste.
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟰: Use a spoon to pour the milk into the coffee cup, preventing the froth from going into the cup.
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟱: Stir the contents of the cup.
